Put Word Trail on your iPhone or iPad
Word Trail installs from Safari. It takes about a minute and works offline after the first open.
App Store version coming soon. Until then, the Safari steps below put the same app on your Home Screen in under a minute.

Step by step
- Open www.learningcircusstudios.com/word-trail in Safari.
If the link opened inside another app such as Facebook or Instagram, copy the link and paste it into Safari. Only Safari can add apps to the Home Screen.
- Tap the three dots button at the right end of the address bar.
On iPhones that have not updated to iOS 26, tap the Share button instead. It is the square with an arrow pointing up, at the bottom of the screen.
- Tap Share.
- Scroll down the list and tap Add to Home Screen.
- Leave Open as Web App switched on, then tap Add in the top right corner.
- Find Word Trail on your Home Screen and open it once while you are on Wi-Fi.
That first open saves the practice words and recordings to the device, so it works with no internet after that.

Put Word Trail on your Android phone or tablet
Start free in under a minute from Chrome. Bought the full version? The Android app for owners is further down.

Step by step
- Open www.learningcircusstudios.com/word-trail in Chrome.
- Tap the Install Word Trail button on the page.
Do not see it? Tap the three dots at the top right of Chrome, tap Add to Home screen, then tap Install.
- Tap Install on the pop-up.
- Open Word Trail from your home screen once while you are on Wi-Fi. After that it works offline.
- Grades 1 and 2 are free to start. Bought all 12 grades? Open Grown-up corner and enter your licence key.

Bought the full version? Get the Android app
Owners can install the full Android app, which uses the device voice and prints from the tablet. Updates are always free.
Step by step
- Have your licence key ready. It is in your purchase email from Learning Circus Studios and looks like WTRAIL-XXXX-XXXX-XXXX-XXXX.
- In Chrome, open www.learningcircusstudios.com/word-trail/update, type your key, tap Get my free update, then tap Download Word Trail.
- If Chrome says the file could be harmful, tap Download anyway.
Chrome says that about every app that does not come from the Play Store. This one comes straight from Learning Circus Studios.
- When the download finishes, tap Open at the bottom of the screen.
Missed it? Open your Files app, tap Downloads, then tap the Word Trail file.
- If Android says your phone is not allowed to install unknown apps from this source: tap Settings, switch on Allow from this source, then tap the back arrow.
- Tap Install.
If Google Play Protect offers to scan the app, tap Scan. When the check finishes, continue with the install.
- Tap Open. Go to Grown-up corner and enter your licence key. One key works on up to 2 devices.

Word Trail installs from Chrome or Edge on Windows, Mac and Chromebook, and works offline after the first open.

Step by step
- Open www.learningcircusstudios.com/word-trail in Chrome or Edge.
- Click the install icon at the right end of the address bar. It looks like a small screen with a down arrow.
Do not see it? Click the three dots menu, then Cast, save and share, then Install page as app (Chrome), or Apps, then Install this site as an app (Edge).
- Click Install.
- Word Trail opens in its own window. Find it later in your Start menu, Launchpad or app list. It works offline after the first open.
- Grades 1 and 2 are free to start. Bought all 12 grades? Open Grown-up corner and enter your licence key.
